Project studies

In the 4th semester, communication psychology students complete a project course. Here they learn how professional project work works and gain their first insights into the applied subject of work and organizational psychology.

The restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic naturally also posed a major challenge for our students' projects: Project meetings in a café? Impossible. Teaching and agreements? Only digitally. Exciting projects with local associations or organizations? Maybe again next year.

We think so: Our students handled the situation very well and delivered great project results despite the obstacles! They have also become professionals in virtual teamwork and have gained valuable experience.

Here are the project results from the summer semester 2020:

Strengthen inner resources

An exercise program to improve well-being

How do you manage to keep everyday stress and worries at bay and take better care of yourself? In the "Strengthening inner resources" project, Valerie Neunzig, Greta Wagler-Wernecke, Lisa Gregorczyk, Ursula Möckel and Danny Peter developed a training program with various mindfulness exercises and tested it together with 20 participants. The aim of the exercises is to learn to take time for yourself, your body and your thoughts.

The exercises can be quickly and easily integrated into everyday life. Breathing meditation, a thought diary and reflective questions bring you a little closer to yourself. The feedback from participants shows that it was good to engage more intensively with themselves and take time for themselves. Their sense of well-being improved.

You can find the exercise documents here.

Working from home with children? Yes please!

A podcast about how working from home is compatible with childcare.

Working from home with children

Lucas Richter, Laura Garbe, Anna Vogel and Jonas Hanschke have researched how parents of daycare children have experienced working from home during the coronavirus pandemic.

Is the balancing act between work and childcare successful? And if so, how? What aspects of working from home do parents appreciate and what pushes them to their limits?

Based on interviews and a survey, the podcast gives us some surprising insights into the situation of young families.
