The research activities at the Faculty of Social Sciences are characterized on the one hand by a close integration with the teaching content and teaching research projects of all degree courses, in particular the two Master's degree courses (Management of Social Change, Social Gerontology). On the other hand, they often have a (European) regional orientation (border triangle) and a clear application and practical focus.
The thematic focuses in recent years can be bundled along a life course perspective as well as along a socio-political and a (socio-)pedagogical perspective.
From a life course perspective, research at the faculty encompasses approaches and projects that range from early childhood, through adolescence and middle adulthood, to supporting the elderly and caring for people.
A number of professors from the faculty conduct research in institutes outside the faculty, in particular the institutes of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences: Institute for Transformation, Housing and Social Spatial Development (TRAWOS)(https://trawos.hszg.de/) and Institute for Health, Ageing and Technology (GAT)(https://gat.hszg.de/).
Further information on the research projects of the faculty's professors can be found on the pages of the professors on the faculty website and also in the research information system of the HSZG(https://fis.hszg.de/index.html). You can find further information on the central HSCG research page(https://www.hszg.de/forschung). Many of the professors use digital services such as ResearchGate to publish their current information online. You can also find a selection of projects and activities further down the page.
If you have any direct questions about research at the faculty, you are welcome to contact the faculty's research officer . If you have any questions about research at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, please contact the Research Department(https://www.hszg.de/forschung).
