For the Social Work degree program, proximity to the concrete professional practice of social work has been an important point of reference and orientation for the entire academic education since its foundation. The practical study components (practical modules) are therefore also integrated into the course of study in accordance with a single-phase training model. They take place in the third and sixth semesters and represent the core points for establishing the practical relevance of the course. The aim of this training model is to integrate practical relevance into the university education, to develop a scientific penetration and processing of relevant questions in practical contexts and at the same time to encourage constant reflection and further development of practice.
Coordinated with the teaching-learning contexts offered within the university, students are qualified in the practical modules under the professional guidance of experienced state-recognized social workers and social pedagogues . Both practical modules include a supervised internship in a suitable and verified professional practice institution as well as practical courses (study days) at the university.
