State recognition is granted upon application to anyone who has obtained a Diplom or Bachelor's degree in the fields of social work, childhood education or curative education from a state or state-recognized university of applied sciences or the Berufsakademie Sachsen.
This is regulated by
the law on the state recognition of graduates with a diploma or bachelor's degree in the fields of social work or curative education in the Free State of Saxony (Sächsisches Sozialanerkennungsgesetz - SächsSozAnerkG)
and
the ordinance of the Saxon State Ministry of Culture on the state recognition of graduates with a diploma or bachelor's degree in the fields of social work or curative education in the Free State of Saxony (Sächsische Sozialanerkennungsverordnung - SächsSozAnerkVO).
The State Directorate of Saxony issues the state recognition upon application. Among other things, this application must be accompanied by:
proof of
a) completion of the professional internship in accordance with § 1 Para. 2 or § 2 Para. 1 SächsSozAnerkG
b) successful participation in a final colloquium in accordance with § 1 Para. 2 or § 2 Para. 1 SächsSozAnerkG.
The certificates are issued by the university and handed out on successful completion of the final colloquium. The final colloquium must be taken no later than 3 years after the award of the diploma or Bachelor's degree. The colloquium is a 20-minute specialist discussion, which is held individually in front of an appointed committee and gives the candidate the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills required for independent professional practice. The result will be announced to the candidate orally immediately afterwards. If the final colloquium is not passed, it can be repeated once within one year. The colloquia for state recognition are held at the faculty near or during the examination periods. Registration for the Social Work and Curative Education degree programs takes place via the registration masks for SWb and SHb.
Registration starts at the beginning of each semester (01.03./01.09.) and ends four weeks before the examination period. You will first receive a confirmation email. For students, the dates will be announced as part of the examination planning. Graduates will be informed of their date by email after the registration deadline.
