The quality of the internship depends largely on the skills of the supervising staff. The professional qualifications of supervisors for social work students are regulated in the Ordinance on State Recognition (SozAnerkVO (1)) and the Act on State Recognition (SächsSozAnerkG (2)). Accordingly, instructors can be persons who have obtained a degree as a state-recognized social worker, social pedagogue (Bachelor's/Diploma), curative pedagogue (Bachelor's/Diploma) or childhood pedagogue (Bachelor's). The person providing instruction must work full-time for at least 20 hours in the practice placement.

During the internships, we offer our students' supervisors events at the university. They serve to get to know each other personally and to exchange experiences and expectations, as well as providing further training.
During the internship module, we invite the supervisors to a meeting at the university before or at the beginning of the internship and at the end of the internship period. At these meetings, the objectives, content and special features of the respective internship module can be discussed at an early stage and questions about the guidance activity can be clarified. Furthermore, the university's expectations of the training plan are presented. Specific questions, such as how to prepare the assessment, the assignment to be completed by the students and the recognition of the practical part of the course by the university, are also answered. In addition, we offer supervisors one internship-specific training course per semester.
