Practical study components in childhood education
Practical study components are spread over the entire course of study and add up to at least 100 days. Each practical phase is part of one or more modules. An overview of the curricular anchoring of the practical study components can be found here: Curricular anchoring.
1st semester: Work shadowing
- Exploration of institutions and fields of work in childhood education
- Development of the understanding of the profession
2nd semester: 112 hours (14 days)
- Research method-oriented activities in the field of early childhood education (empirical social research)
- Methods of developmental diagnostics for the assessment and documentation of developmental processes (pedagogical diagnostics)
3rd semester: 112 h (14 days) internship during the semester
- Design of development and educational processes in the educational areas of language and motor skills
4th semester: 112 hours (14 days) internship during the semester
- Designing developmental and educational processes in the educational areas of perception/cognition and social-emotional development
5th semester: 480 h (60 days) work placement

- Research project
