Racism and care for the elderly in East Germany

Dr. Monique Ritter in an interview with MeltingPod.

Dr. Monique Ritter talks to Merve and Andrea in the podcast MeltingPod on June 15 about the motivation and background of her doctoral topic, gives insights into the research work by traveling around the qualitative research in the home care sector for the elderly, which she conducted in Dresden from 2018-2020, and presents points of analysis and results of the work. Among other things, the question of criticism of racism in the field of tension of open field research is also highlighted.

[...] I was very surprised and amazed at the response this research work triggered, so it became clear to me that there is actually a very strong need to look at racism in elderly care contexts, in the health sector in general, and that there has perhaps been a perceived awareness of the problem for some time [...].
