Prof. Ass.jur. Thomas Eissing passed away on 21.12.2023 at the age of 78. Thomas Eissing studied law at the Universities of Göttingen, Freiburg im Breisgau and Hamburg.

Thomas Eissing had been intensively involved in the science of social work since his postgraduate studies in social pedagogy at the University of Hamburg and subsequent years as a lecturer. At the same time, he worked for many years as a lawyer with his own law firm in Hamburg.

In 1995, Thomas Eissing took up a professorship in law at the then Faculty of Social Sciences at Zittau / Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Until his retirement in 2010, Thomas Eissing played a key role in the further development of the department in various functions and was able to inspire students for legal topics. He set important professional impulses in the field of disability law nationwide.

We mourn the loss of a highly esteemed colleague.

The Zittau / Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Social Sciences will honor his memory.
