Master's students present research at BTU Cottbus

Mara Börjesson and Raffael Hermann presented their findings on German-Czech border research to the Landscape Research Working Group.

In October, students from the Masters in Management of Social Change (Faculty S) presented the results of their research internship to a specialist audience of landscape researchers from a wide range of disciplines. They were invited to the 10th workshop of the Landscape Research Working Group at BTU Cottbus. The Germany-wide working group, which meets annually, serves to network stakeholders in this field and to examine landscapes from multiple perspectives.  Over three days, interdisciplinary work was carried out on the topic of "Landscape Justice".

In their research project last winter semester, Mara Börjesson, Raffael Hermann, Klara Klegrova and Maxim Richter took a closer look at Czech-German border crossings in the Lusatian and Zittau Mountains. They investigated the question of how borders are materially represented in space, what functions they perform and to what extent inequalities become visible. The junior research group aroused the curiosity and attention of their fellow students and lecturers when they presented their results during their studies. This is another reason why the results should not simply disappear in a drawer after being presented to the course. The specialist discussion at BTU was an exciting step into the world of science. Now they hope to be able to publish their research in an anthology of the working group.

The students' presentation can be viewed here.
